Money things
Full prepayment will be through paypal and is required after the sketch phase, and after this point there will be no availability for refunds or negotiations.I’ll only start the preliminary sketch after chatting with you and agreeing on all the details, so don’t feel rushed - we will discuss what you’re looking for and ensure I have all the necessary info before moving on.Before you pay and before I begin drawing, I will ask you to confirm all the terms of each commission piece so all sides are informed.During the preliminary sketch phase, you will be offered an opportunity to request small changes (pose, etc), but any major changes after that point will incur a fee of €10 per amendment.Prices may change at any time (but I will telegraph this here and on my instagram) depending on demand.All commissions come with commercial licensing so that you can use the art however and wherever you’d like. I’d appreciate if you tagged me on instagram however at @katkraehenauthor !

(Rates may vary depending on certain factors such as if one character is pictured from the waist-up and the other is full-body, etc; just ask me!)Backgrounds
All commissions come with a transparent background and/or simple gradient background.For more intricate backgrounds (such as scenery, furniture, etc), this will incur an additional fee. This will usually be between €20-€50, but may be higher depending on complexity. Again, just ask and we'll see what we can do :)
Availability
As I am a one-guy army who has a debut book just out in 2026, is writing another book, has other art projects, and also works full time, I will only open a handful of commission slots at a time.If I have no slots left by the time you contact me, I will put you on a waiting list for the next time I have availability.Reach out to me via instagram (@katkraehenauthor) or through my author email, [email protected], to enquire about availability.

About Me
I’m an author of queer fantasy who realised that dumping all my trauma onto my characters was way cheaper and artsier than therapy. I am also a visual artist, and all of the character art featured on my website and social media, including the background of this carrd site, was drawn by me~When not writing, I can be found drawing, taking naps, or enjoying cute little drinks such as choccy milk or this cherry blossom frappe thing that my local bubble tea place makes. I enjoy sushi and guacamole on toast, probably not at the same time, but I’ll try anything once.I live in sunny (HA) western Ireland with my husband and black cat familiar, Jiji.

My Books
HAIL THE RISING TIDES, published in spring of 2026, combines queer forbidden love, elemental magic, and a lush Mediterranean-inspired setting. It spans over four distinct POVs and features both sapphic and achillean romances, and is perfect for fans of The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri, and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
ALL THE QUIET GODS (publication date to be announced) is a dual-POV sapphic fantasy featuring a priestess hell-bent on saving her god from dying and taking the rest of the world with him, and a witch who has a bad feeling that this god is not who he seems to be.

The Characters
Hail the Rising Tides features four distinct POV characters who are all silly geese in their own unique, special way.

Ione Artem, Goddess Incarnate
The only daughter of House Artem, the granddaughter of the Great Sage Llyr, and the mortal unlucky enough to have been chosen by the Moon Goddess Menon to house Her divine powers. Ione is prim, prideful and very serious about her destiny as Menon Incarnate. The only problem is she has no idea how to unlock Menon’s powers – until she meets Lina, a mundane priestess who effortlessly (and unintentionally) turns Ione’s life upside-down.
Lina Almenara, Secret Pyromancer
Lina is one pyromancer hiding within a sea of Menon-worshipers, smiling faces who would kill her without a second thought if they knew who exactly she was. Desperation drove Lina to masquerade as a mundane moon priestess in order to hide from her brother Castor, a man willing to immolate his own sister if it meant pleasing the Sun God’s priests. She is safe here, nameless, nobody – until she catches the eye of Lady Ione.
River Fontaine, Seleneschal Guard
Straight-laced and serious River is proud to be Menon Incarnate’s bodyguard. His physical skills and swordsmanship make up for his magical inability, and Ione has never made him feel less than. His loyalty to Ione and Archpriest Saros knows no bounds (which can get dicey, considering their hatred for one another), and he will do anything to protect them – especially from slimy spellcasters like Kai Mahina.
Kai Mahina, Warden of Oseidos
As part of a naval family infamous for its brutality, Kai is expected to be a cold, merciless hydromancer – and he is, totally. He just specialises in wards instead of physical spells, would rather drink than become another mindless mercenary, and would happily sell his brothers out for half a cigarette. Kai has his own plans for glory, starting with becoming Archpriest Saros’s new dog and earning himself a very nice title: Master of Wards.
